First of all it would be worth mentioning that last month that Japanese car-making giant, Toyota, announced that it looks forward to invest $50 million in Tesla Motors.

The company also stated that it had a plan for Tesla to acquire the NUMMI (New United Motor Manufacturing) GM/Toyota plant located in Fremont, California.

At the same time Toyota did not confirm that it teamed up with Tesla to work on an actual car.

Recently the company has officially announced that it is working together with Tesla on an eco-friendly prototype that will be completed in 2012.

Currently the two companies did not provide any details on their project. However, it was revealed that the new EV will feature Tesla’s lithium-ion battery system and its body will be based on one of the latest Toyota cars.
