The firm designed and built its 18-passenger electric shuttle bus and hopes to sell it in China and India.
The company’s co-founder Dr. Dan Rivers is also the founder of Compact Power Inc., a company that focuses on the production of lithium-ion batteries.
Thus, the latest creation of Rivers and his team will surely have one of the most efficient batteries possible.
There’s information that the 21-foot e-Shuttle will be powered by an 88.5 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack. The latter will allow the vehicle to register a range of 133 kilometers (84 miles). In addition, the electric bus will be able to reach a top speed of 80kph (50mph).
The first vehicle will be launched at the end of June. AEV look forward to producing 50 eShuttles this year and about 300 in 2012.
So far there’s no information on the price of the bus, but the company says that the price is to be announced by the end of the year.
