Mitsubishi i-MIEV is the Greenest Vehicle

Today, though the industry of green vehicles is continuously evolving in a fast pace, Toyota Prius and Chevy Volt are probably the only to vehicles that come to mind when you think about an electric car.

At the same time the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) has unveiled its 14th annual comprehensive environmental rankings, in which the greenest car is neither Prius nor Volt.

The Mitsubishi i-MIEV from Honda Civic Natural Gas is the leading car. In the survey the car gathered a score of 58, which is the highest Green Score since 1998, when the ranking system was launched.

In 2012 the vehicle is debuting in the American market. It shows fuel economy of 112 miles per gallon equivalent in both city and highway.

The second greenest car is the Nissan Leaf, which showed a score of 55. It is worth mentioning that the Honda Natural Gas has won the top spot as for 8 years in a row. At the LA Auto Show it became the winner of the 2012 Green Car of the Year Award

Among other vehicles from the list of the greenest cars there’s Honda CRZ hybrid (50) and the Scion IQ (52).
