X-Frame – Electric Vehicle That Easily Folds for Storage

The prototype, dubbed X-Frame, is a revolutionary folding vehicle that can push the boundaries of urban mobility to a new extent.

Biofuel-Powered Vehicle to Help Researchers Explore Antarctica

Recently the Moon-Regan Transantarctic Expedition team announced its plan to travel 3,600 miles across Antarctica.

The journey is expected to start this winter and the main helpers of the team are several ice-riders that run on biofuel.

These vehicles will help the 11 members of the team complete its 40-days journey in the tough conditions.

Human-Electric Hybrid Vehicle to Be Commercially Available in 2011

Professor Charles Samuel Greenwood is the one who developed the human-electric hybrid vehicle called “Imagine PS” (PS stands for power station), which is expected to be commercially available in 2011.

The car will be able to reach a top speed of 100km/h (60mph) on the flat and up to 50km/h uphill.

It is worth mentioning that the entire low-mass vehicle was made by hand. Students Create Electric Vehicle that Gets Efficiency Equivalent of 300mpg

A group of students from the DeLaSalle School in Kansas City teamed up with engineers from Bridgestone America’s Technical Center in Akron to create a special all-electric car.

Wind-Powered Vehicle Travels Faster Than the Wind

Rick Cavallaro together with the team from fasterthanthewind.org was able to create a wind-powered vehicle that can travel faster than the wind.

The team carried out the records runs at El Mirage, California. The speed registered by the vehicle was officially recognized by the North American Land Sailing Association.

The vehicle went downwind 2.8 times the wind speed, with the wind speed being 13.5mph.

Driverless Electric Car to Travel From Italy to China

A team of engineers from Italy decided to launch on a long journey a driverless electric vehicle. They want their car to travel 8,000 miles from Italy to China.

It is worth mentioning that the electric vehicle is equipped with laser scanners and 7 video cameras that will help it cross mountain roads and avoid city traffic.

Though the car is driverless, the team will have two electric-powered vans with technicians that will keep an eye on the car during the journey in order to avoid accidents.
