Recently Lexus has presented its brand new LF-LC Hybrid sports coupe. The presentation took place at the NAIAS 2012 in Detroit.
The design is very attractive, managing to catch the attention of the crowd at Detroit Auto Show.
The vehicle boasts an aerodynamic body and it’s probably the most futuristic hybrid car Lexus has ever launched.
It would be interesting to note that with LED details the vehicle’s headlights were inspired by jet fighter afterburners. In addition, Lexus LF-LC is currently the only car to boast a front to back glass roof.
Inside one will be able to discover two 12.3-inch LCD screens that show information about the speed and current position of the vehicle.
The design of the car allows it to be even more fuel-efficient.
So far there has been no word on when the concept will hit the market.

Finally the Concept_One EV, one of the most awaited eco-friendly vehicles of the Frankfurt Motor Show, has been presented. The electric vehicle was designed by Mate Rimac, a 23-year-old designer from Croatia.
There are two things for which Concept_One can be highly appreciated: its sleek design and mind-blowing technical specifications. With 1088 horsepower, the vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 62mph (100kph) in 2.8 seconds and reach a top speed of 190mph (305kph).
In addition, the car can register a range of 370 miles (600 kilometers) on a single charge. There will be 88 limited-edition production models launched in 2013.
It would also be interesting to note that Rimac Automobili, a company based near Zagreb, Croatia, equipped its Concept_One with 4 independent electric motors (one motor installed in each wheel).
The design and engineering team that worked together at Rimac factory includes Goran Popovic, the leader of the team composed of former Pininfarina employees and former Magna Steyr designer Adriano Mudri.
Popovic and his team worked on the design of the “driver-focused” interior covered in leather from Vilner and a head-up-display.
Mudri, in his turn, worked on the carbon-fiber body of the vehicle. So far no word on pricing has been given.
The car-making company Maxximus is currently working on an eco-friendly vehicle that will run on liquid natural gas (LNG) and wear a price tag of $1,000,000.
The super car is called Prodigy and its design is based on the design of the LNG 2000 prototype model. It would be interesting to note that the vehicle would be the world’s first super car powered by LNG.
According to the company, its new vehicle will boast an interior that is close to that of a Rolls Royce. From these words it is possible to draw the conclusion that Maxximus looks forward to compete on the market of supercars with such giants as Ferrari and Tesla Motors.
In the picture you can see the LNG 2000 designed by Marlon Kirby of Indianapolis. He worked on the project for about two years.
The vehicle with its twin turbocharges is said to generate 2,000Hp, and show acceleration from 0 to 60mph in about 2 seconds. In addition, according to Kirby the car can reach a top speed of 300 mph.
Judging from the information provided by the company [PDF], there are at least 5 millionaires willing to acquire the luxury eco-friendly super car.
The Frankfurt Auto Show, which opened on September 15th and will keep attracting car lovers from around the world until September 25th, is where visitors can observe a myriad of new concept vehicles.
One of them is the wonderful Jaguar C-X16 hybrid concept.
The Jaguar C-X16 is a two-seater equipped with a 3.0 liter V6 engine able to generate 300hp and an electric motor that produces 95hp. The latter is incorporated into the eight-speed gearbox of the sleek-looking coupe.
The hybrid vehicle can register acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.3 seconds, with the op speed being 186mph.
Jaguar C-X16 has its motor generator powered by a 1.6 kWh lithium ion unit installed behind the seats. Thus the car-maker was able to obtain a perfect 50/50 weight distribution.
According to Jaguar, during the official tests its eco-friendly vehicle emitted only 165 grams per kilometer of carbon dioxide. It was also announced that for short distances the driver will be able to run their car at up to 50 mph in electric-only mode.
Inside one will be able to discover a futuristic interior with multimodal rotary controls displayed on small OLED screens that can reconfigure in order to show the different functions that the driver can perform using the controls.
To maintain the battery pack juiced up, the company equipped its new vehicle with Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS) that charges the battery packs when the driver hits the brakes. The final version of the vehicle along with its price tag will be available in at least a year, until then we can enjoy this stylish concept.

The idea behind the Flake concept car is mainly a puppeteering system that makes use of nano-tube cables in combination with electromagnetic solenoids used to track, adjust, and increase the performance of the car.
One more interesting feature (in fact the one that made this vehicle appear in an eco-friendly cars blog) is that the scales can also track the sun, acting like solar panels, thus the vehicle is able to generate its batteries much faster.
A team of engineers headed by aircraft engineers Michael Moshier and Robert Bulaga is looking forward to building a multi-passenger, fuel-electric hybrid air vehicle.
The car will be the second and improved model of Vertical Take-Off-and-Landing (VTOL) single passenger vehicle, which the team named SoloTrek XFV.
The latest development will be based on the same duct-fan technology that the engineers used in SoloTrek. Currently the team is searching for someone to fund their project.
The previous $5-million project was funded by DARPA. The SoloTrek air vehicle was highly appreciated by aircraft enthusiasts. It also received the Invention of the Year award from Popular Science.

The Japanese carmaker Toyota has recently unveiled its brand new vehicle that boasts a very appealing design.
Dubbed GRMN Sports Hybrid Concept II, the vehicle was officially presented at the 39th Nürburgring 24-hour endurance race. The race took place near Nürburg, Germany.
It is worth mentioning that the car represents a modified version of the first Toyota hybrid sports car known as the Toyota MR2, which was presented in 2010 at the Tokyo Auto Salon.
The GRMN Sports Hybrid Concept II has good chances of becoming the company’s first marketed hybrid sports vehicle.
The car has a 3.5 liter V6 engine able to generate 295 horsepower and reach acceleration from 0 to 60mph in 6 seconds.
The name of the car comes as a tribute to Hiromu Naruse, a Toyota driver who passed away as a result of a crash in 2010. The abbreviation GRMN means GAZOO Racing tuned by Meister of Nürburgring (the title refers to Naruse).
Chinese designer Yuhan Zhang has come up with a very original concept for Volkswagen called The Volkswagen Aqua, which represents a hovercraft of the future.
Graduate in Industrial Design at Xihua University, the student thought that the concept should be made using a lightweight and at the same time a very durable material.
According to the author of the concept, the vehicle could be used in lakes, rivers, coastal water or even on snow.

The Volkswagen Aqua features 2 motors. The main motor obtains power from a hydrogen fuel cell and it is used to drive the main fan. The latter inflates the skirt around the hovercraft and raises the vehicle just above the ground.
The other fans, located at the rear, are powered by individual electric motors. These fans are used to provide forward thrust and directional control. It is worth mentioning that the Volkswagen Aqua can accommodate two passengers.
