Volkswagen’s New Eco-Friendly Vehicle Registers 235MPG

The famous German car manufacturer Volkswagen said that it will soon present its brand new eco-friendly vehicle at this year’s Qatar Motor Show.

The car spends 1 liter of gasoline each 100 kilometers, which is the equivalent of 235 miles per gallon.

It would be interesting to note that the new vehicle represents an upgraded version of the VW L1 model and is equipped with an ultra-efficient diesel engine that runs in cooperation with an electric motor. Bio-Bug – World’s First Vehicle Running on Human Waste

According to engineers from GENeco, a company specializing in alternative energy, they managed to create a motor that can run on methane gas produced from human waste.

They carried out a test of their engine by placing it in a VW Beetle. Engineers called the vehicle Bio-Bug.

It is worth mentioning that the development of a high-performance motor running on methane is a practice called biogas upgrading.

Volkswagen Hopes to Create Electric Cars with a 500-Mile Range

According to Martin Eberhard, the electric vehicle engineering director who works at Volkswagen’s Electronics Research Laboratory (ERL) located in Palo Alto, California, over the next 10 years we could witness the appearance of electric vehicle boasting a range that exceeds 500 miles on a single charge.

Today the Laboratory is working on the creation of a number of new driver assistance systems and human-machine interface technologies.

New-Generation All-Electric Volkswagen Beetle Designed for 2012

The goal of Belgian designer David Cardoso was to improve the looks of the famous Volkswagen Beetle and make it more masculine.

Cardoso came up with a concept that is more male compared to the previous model, and more contemporary, due to the fact that it is more eco-friendly.

VW Pholeum – Electric Vehicle Able to Turn 360 Degrees

Pholeum VW Concept

This interesting concept was designed by Alexei Mikhailov. The futuristic chariot, dubbed VW Pholeum, represents the city speedway one-person mean of transport.

Using the external wheel base, the car can easily be parked, since the wheels are able to turn 360 degrees. The car doesn’t require suspension because rubberized tires along with independent spoke arrangements easily absorb any bumps. Note that tires are made of bio-degradable rubber.
